help me understand plateau, I have read the wiki twice

Meta Cold Box ×6 The Quiet One ×1

Confession thread, sort of.

I went from 0.5mg to 12.5mg much faster than I should have because the scale had stalled and I got impatient. The stall broke about 20 weeks later, at which point I had no way of knowing whether the dose increase did anything or whether it would have broken anyway.

So now I have reflux I did not need and a data point I cannot interpret. Two lessons in one.

Posting it in the hope that somebody at week 21 reads it before doing the same thing.

The thing nobody prepared me for was that the appetite does not come back for a long time after you stop.

Adding to this: food noise is doing more work than the comment implies.

I am going to push back on this slightly.

Not convinced. The evidence does not support that reading.

How long were you at 12.5mg before you moved up?

pens are overpriced, research vials are research grade, same molecule different price

Tried the split-dose thing for 20 weeks. Felt slightly smoother, lost at exactly the same rate. Went back to weekly.

week 17 on the pen, 5kg down, this is the answer

the 2.4mg dose is not the target, it is just what the pen goes up to

Edit to your parent would help — the concentration you quoted assumes one scenario and you have written another above it.

stalled at 15mg, went up, and regretted it, the stall would have broken anyway

replysharereportpermalink
u/joaquin_stanescu12 points·1 year ago·edited

nope, 0.25 counts, it is just not the dose most people stay on

Ozempic versus Wegovy versus research grade is the wrong argument, they are literally the same molecule

Right, and the corollary is that stopping escalation does not reset your tolerance, it just pauses the clock.

Retitled to remove editorialising. Put the evidence in the body.

Mechanistically the bit that matters is weekly dosing. It explains most of the early profile and a decent chunk of the outcome.

Stalled at 5mg, changed nothing, and it started moving again on week 2. Very nearly went up. Glad I did not.

u/dead_space_doug35 points·1 year ago

Went up because the scale stalled, not because I needed to. Do not be me. The stall broke on its own at the higher dose.

my fasting insulin moved before the scale did and i nearly missed it

Stalled at 0.25mg, changed nothing, and it started moving again on week 95. Very nearly went up. Glad I did not.

okay but what dose of sema are you on

Disagree but this is the good kind of wrong — it is specific enough to be checked.
