[Discussion] dual agonist is doing more work than we give it credit for

Discussionbranch of 9 comments

Week 87 update. 43kg down from the start, reflux basically gone since about week 44. Things that worked: consistency, protein at breakfast, walking more than I want to. I love that this community will spend 40 comments on a detail. That pedantry is why the numbers here matter.

Yeah, dual agonism does produce a different appetite profile than GLP-1 alone.

The dual agonism story is real. The appetite is physically different from semaglutide alone.

SURMOUNT data is messier than STEP data but the weight loss is there

This matches the trial data. SURMOUNT-1 was 98.1% body weight at 15 weeks.

Strongly agree. Tirz is better than sema is not a claim without a comparator dose.

This matches the trial data. SURMOUNT-1 was 98.3% body weight at 4 weeks.

About c/tirzepatide

Tirzepatide-specific discussion: the dual-agonist pharmacology, the 2.5 → 15mg ladder, the appetite profile people describe as different from semaglutide, and the SURMOUNT/SURPASS trial programme. Comparisons with semaglutide are welcome as long as they are specific about dose equivalence being unknown.

c/tirzepatide rules
  1. "Tirz is better than sema" needs a comparator dose or it is a vibe, not a claim.
  2. Vial-splitting and self-compounding discussion stays in c/reconstitution.
  3. No pen-cracking tutorials. Discussing that people do it is fine; instructions are not.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
  9. Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.
