goal weight — 18 things I got wrong before I got it right

Discussion Receipts ×6

Right, the lowest effective dose question again, but with numbers this time.

I have 6 data points over 34 weeks. The pattern is consistent enough that I do not think it is chance, and boring enough that nobody is going to screenshot it, which is usually a good sign.

The thing I would flag for anyone new: the effect I am describing showed up at week 76, not week 30. People give up long before the interesting part.

Interested in whether this matches other people's logs or whether I am an outlier.

weight moves within 3kg and that is normal

Tracking number removed. It identifies both ends of a shipment.

state how long you have been at maintenance, week 15 is not maintenance

Dead space in the needle hub holds a small but non-trivial volume. On low-volume draws that can be several units.

lowest effective dose is regain, find it or stay higher

Not to be pedantic but dose stretching and long term are being used interchangeably and they are not interchangeable in real life.

regain after taper is expected, plan for it

This is correct. Weight variance is normal at maintenance.

Strongly agree. Lowest effective dose is a real discovery process.

Disagree but this is the good kind of wrong — it is specific enough to be checked.

dose-stretching experiences welcome, dose-stretching instructions are not

Regain on a taper is expected. 23% back over 6 weeks, which matches the discontinuation data. Planned for it.

Regain on a taper is expected. 18% back over 12 weeks, which matches the discontinuation data. Planned for it.

About c/maintenancephase

The part nobody posts about: what happens at goal weight. Finding a lowest effective dose, dose-interval stretching, regain risk data, muscle retention, the psychology of not having a number to chase, and staying on indefinitely versus tapering.
