small win: data logger stopped being a problem at week 31

Discussion Receipts ×3 Clean Column ×1

Quick one. Canada here.

data logger works very differently where I live than in the threads that dominate the front page, and I keep seeing people confidently given advice that simply does not apply outside the US.

Specifics: the route I used took 21 weeks and cost roughly what I expected. The admin was worse than the cost. The thing that would have saved me the most time was knowing which document to ask for at the start.

Happy to answer questions from anyone in the same jurisdiction.

Logger trace from my shipment: 11 hours at 25°C. Powder tested 99.1% against 97.6% claim. Tolerates more than the box implies.

data logger is the standard, gut feeling is not

Strongly agree. Peak temperature is not the whole story.

Sceptical. If this were true we would see it reflected in the data and we do not.

stability after excursion is not zero, it is dose-dependent

Removed a chain here. The rule is one line long and it is not negotiable.

Reconstituted or dry powder?

the logger trace is the data that matters, not the packaging promises

Yeah, data logger is the only acceptable proof.

Denmark to Denmark takes 16 days on average, variance is 22 days

lyophilised powder is far more forgiving than reconstituted solution

Disagree on that part. 98.7% and 99.2% on the same vial is normal.

Not to be pedantic but data logger and excursion are being used interchangeably and they are not interchangeable in real life.

The evidence standard in c/vendorvetting gets called too strict about once a month, and every time, the thread ends with the complainant agreeing.

customs clearance often breaks the cold chain, factor that in

Respectfully this is a sample of one presented as a finding.

Counter-anecdote: opposite result, same dose. Which mostly tells us the variance is huge.

Slight fix: the number was 95.1, not 94.2. Decimal point, but a fairly consequential one.

Customs clearance took 9 days. Package sat unrefrigerated during that. Powder tested clean after, reconstituted solution probably would not have.

excursion claims need a logger trace or a photo at unboxing, not "it felt warm"

Adding to this: data logger is doing more work than the comment implies.

Yeah, data logger is the only acceptable proof.

About c/coldchain

Temperature and stability in the real world: what an excursion actually costs you, why lyophilised powder is far more forgiving than reconstituted solution, how to read a logger CSV, and how to photograph a failed shipment so the conversation with the vendor is short.

c/coldchain rules
  1. Excursion claims need a logger trace or a photo taken at unboxing. "It felt warm" is not data.
  2. No tracking numbers, ever. They identify you and the recipient.
  3. Stability claims need a source or an explicit "this is my guess" label.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
  9. Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.
