[Meta] proposal — a flair for bloodwork posts

Discussion The Quiet One ×9 Receipts ×2

Long-ish post, sorry. tl;dr at the bottom.

I have been tracking bloodwork against triglycerides for 17 weeks because I could not find anyone who had. The correlation is weaker than I expected, which is itself mildly interesting given how confidently people link the two in here.

Caveats up front: one person, one lab, one assay, no control, and I changed my training in the middle of it, which was stupid.

tl;dr: probably real, definitely smaller than the threads imply, and not worth reorganising your week around.

Disagree but this is the good kind of wrong — it is specific enough to be checked.

Rodent data is rodent data. Dose scaling is not linear and the models tell you what to investigate, not what to expect.

Yes, exactly this, and it is the bit that took me 67 weeks to accept.

You have restated the marketing copy. What is the actual substance here.

This is the "correlation is mechanism" thing again. You changed three variables at once.

Strongly agree. ALT is where you catch the liver story early.

Flair changed to match the content. Read the sidebar before posting next time and we are square.

Adding to this: ALT is doing more work than the comment implies.

HOMA-IR is crude but free and useful for tracking

Sceptical. If this were true we would see it reflected in the data and we do not.

Counter-anecdote: opposite result, same dose. Which mostly tells us the variance is huge.

ferritin tanks quietly on a reduced appetite, check it

u/diego_sorensen8 points·6 months ago

Yeah, baseline matters more than any later number.

Ferritin tanked from 19 to 39. Small appetite, reduced iron intake, nobody was testing it until I asked.

eGFR noise on rapid loss is real. 18 week noise, 17 week trend. Do not panic at week 84.

  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
