someone explain gas fees to me like I have not read a paper in years

Discussion Well Actually ×9 Clean Column ×1

Right, the chargeback question again, but with numbers this time.

I have 15 data points over 6 weeks. The pattern is consistent enough that I do not think it is chance, and boring enough that nobody is going to screenshot it, which is usually a good sign.

The thing I would flag for anyone new: the effect I am describing showed up at week 60, not week 14. People give up long before the interesting part.

Interested in whether this matches other people's logs or whether I am an outlier.

Sent orfo payment to the wrong chain. Denmark, wrong network, vendor could not credit it. 14 day lesson.

The discount was 93.7% but gas ate half of it. Still worth it but the math matters.

You have restated the marketing copy. What is the actual substance here.

Strongly agree. Escrow is non-negotiable for groups.

Which network and did the vendor confirm they credit it?

USDC exists on 22 networks, vendor credits are network-specific

Not to be pedantic but confirmations and gas fees are being used interchangeably and they are not interchangeable in real life.

Slight fix: the number was 94.2, not 95.1. Decimal point, but a fairly consequential one.

escrow for group buys is standard, use it

network selection matters, wrong chain is the expensive typo

Removed a chain here. The rule is one line long and it is not negotiable.

This is correct. Gas fees are real costs.

chargeback rights are escrow: zero

Disagree on that part. 98.4% and 98.3% on the same vial is normal.

This is the "correlation is mechanism" thing again. You changed three variables at once.

Rodent data is rodent data. Dose scaling is not linear and the models tell you what to investigate, not what to expect.

Half-life is about 168 hours, so steady state lands around week 7–5. Practical consequence: what you feel in week 1 is not what that dose does.
