6 months in and baseline labs is still the thing I get wrong

Results Clean Column ×3 Slow Clap ×2 Well Actually ×2

Genuinely asking, not being difficult.

Everyone in c/meta repeats that ALT is important. I believe it, but I have never seen anyone show why, and when I search I get 9 threads of people agreeing with each other.

Is there a paper? Is there a measurement? Or is this one of those things that is true because it has been repeated since 2023?

I am not trying to be the "source?" guy. I would just like a source.

I love that this community will spend 40 comments on a detail. That pedantry is why the numbers here matter.

This is correct. ApoB is the better marker.

Removed a chain here. The rule is one line long and it is not negotiable.

nobody here can tell you what a result means for you

Not to be pedantic but lipids and ApoB are being used interchangeably and they are not interchangeable in real life.

Do you have baseline to compare to?

baseline is the most important eGFR measurement, you cannot collect it later

HOMA-IR is crude but free and useful for tracking

About c/bloodwork

What to measure before you start, what to re-measure, and how to interpret movement without panicking. ApoB over LDL-C, HOMA-IR as a crude free tool, ALT and the fatty-liver story, eGFR noise during rapid loss, and the deficiencies that a 1,100-calorie appetite will hand you.

  1. Post reference ranges with your numbers. Units differ by country and lab.
  2. Nobody here can tell you what a result means for you. We can tell you what it usually means.

  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
