the confirmations question that gets asked weekly, answered properly

Question Receipts ×9 Well Actually ×1 Clean Column ×1

Been lurking in c/labresults for about 7 months and finally have something worth posting.

Short version: week 96, 15mg, and gas fees is the bit I still cannot get a straight answer on. I have read the wiki, I have read the last 23 threads, and the answers split roughly down the middle.

What I actually want to know is whether the people saying it does not matter have measured it, or whether it is just repeated confidently. Happy to be told I am overthinking this — I probably am — but I would rather overthink it now than at week 90.

confirmations are escrow, the exchange rate at 2 blocks is the deal

Sent orfo payment to the wrong chain. Germany, wrong network, vendor could not credit it. 4 day lesson.

no price talk, no tickers, no investment discussion

Adding to this: confirmations is doing more work than the comment implies.

This is correct. Gas fees are real costs.

Strongly agree. Escrow is non-negotiable for groups.

Flair changed to match the content. Read the sidebar before posting next time and we are square.

The discount was 98.1% but gas ate half of it. Still worth it but the math matters.

The evidence standard in c/vendorvetting gets called too strict about once a month, and every time, the thread ends with the complainant agreeing.

Respectfully this is a sample of one presented as a finding.

Slight fix: the number was 99.1, not 97.9. Decimal point, but a fairly consequential one.

c/cryptopay rules
  1. No price talk, no tickers, no investment discussion. Payments only.
  2. Never post a wallet address. Not yours, not a vendor's.
  3. No group-buy recruitment. Discussing how they fail is fine.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
  9. Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.
