[Results] 87 weeks, 17kg, and reflux was the hard part

PSA Clean Column ×3 Cold Box ×2 Slow Clap ×2

87 weeks, 17kg, and reflux was the hard part, logged the same way every week so the comparison is at least internally fair.

The relevant figures are 87 weeks and 17kg, and they come from the same log I have kept the whole time.

Most of the common complaints trace back to slowed gastric emptying — early fullness, reflux, nausea after a large or fatty meal. That is also why meal size and speed change the experience more than anything else.

The effect on gastric emptying is most pronounced early and attenuates with continued dosing, which is the mechanism behind the "it settles at a stable dose" pattern the whole board reports.

Tell me where this is wrong. That is the useful part of posting it.

Nothing in this thread is medical advice, including this comment. I am describing a mechanism, not telling anybody what to do about their own week.

holding a dose an extra month is a legitimate answer to bad tolerance

injection-site soreness on day two and gone by day four is the standard shape

if it is severe or persistent that is a clinician question, not a board question

write down when it starts and stops, the pattern is the useful part

nobody warns you about how much of this is timing rather than dose

fibre and water before you buy anything to fix it

Has anything else changed in the same window?

Adding to this — holding the dose rather than stepping is the option people forget they have.

This one needs a clinician rather than a comment section, and we have said so in the thread rather than removing it.

This. A bad fortnight after a step is expected. A bad quarter is a reason to talk to somebody who knows your history.

Agreed, with the caveat that "usually settles" is not "always settles" and the exceptions should still get asked about properly.

How long has it been going on for now?

That symptom is not the one being described upthread. Two different things with similar names and the answers are not interchangeable.

Reflux was the one that got me. Stopped eating in the three hours before bed and it went from nightly to almost never.

Right, and the hair thing is worth repeating: it tracks the rate of loss rather than the compound, and it stops.

u/chidi_abubakar9 points·8 months ago

Hair shedding after significant weight loss is a telogen effect that follows the rate of loss. It is not specific to these compounds and it resolves.

Disagreeing with this one line: that symptom is not on the wait-and-see list and should not be posted as though it is.

Correction: that is a known effect of reduced intake rather than a direct drug effect. The distinction matters because the fix is different.

A symptom that begins the day after the shot and fades by day four tracks the exposure curve. One that appears at random in week 14 probably does not, and that is worth saying to a clinician rather than to us.

fatigue plus low intake is usually just low intake

Same pattern here. It settled at a stable dose without me doing anything clever.

early fullness for the first eight days after each step, then nothing, every single time. Predictable enough that I started planning my week around it.

rania_marchand is right about the timing. The day-of-week pattern is the diagnostic bit, not the severity.

sulphur burps are unpleasant and they are not dangerous

Mine settled at week 89 and has not come back since, across two more steps.

reflux at night, try not eating in the three hours before bed

Yes. Holding the dose is a real option and it does not mean you have failed at anything.

About c/sideeffects

Side-effect experience and management, with a strong bias toward the ones that are common and boring (nausea, constipation, reflux, fatigue, sulphur burps) and a hard line on the ones that are not (severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, jaundice, vision changes). This community is not a substitute for urgent care and the mods will say so bluntly.
