reading PDF metadata threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly

PSA Clean Column ×3 Cold Box ×2 Well Actually ×2

reading PDF metadata threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly — a position I have arrived at slowly and would like tested.

The site had a decade of testimonials and a domain registered in March. That was the entire investigation.

Went looking for independent results on Hangzhou Meite Bio after seeing them named three times in a week. Found nothing verifiable in either direction.

The checks I run before sending money anywhere new, in order, and none of them cost anything.

Domain first, character by character, pasted rather than typed. Then registration age against the claimed trading history. Then a request, in writing, for a batch-specific certificate for the lot they would ship — not the catalogue document.

Then a small order, tested independently. Only after that a real one. This sequence has cost me a handful of small orders and it has never once cost me a large one, which is the whole point.

Research-use-only material is not approved for human use and nothing here should be read as a recommendation to use it.

best — the order this archive was captured in

Why this board insists on dates and documents rather than names.

A report that says "X is a scam" is unfalsifiable and unactionable. A report that says "ordered on this date, paid this way, asked for a batch document on this date, received this reply, nothing since" can be checked, corroborated, or corrected by somebody with a different experience.

The second kind has repeatedly turned out to be a shipping problem, a payment window, or a misread email. The first kind never turns into anything except an argument, and when it is wrong the cost falls on somebody real.

no names without evidence, that is the sidebar rule and it is a good one

Do you have anything in writing from before the payment?

Reported something here with dates and screenshots and was asked for the document trail. Fair challenge, and it made the report worth reading.

The directory deliberately separates "we have nothing on this name" from "this went badly". Collapsing the two is how boards like this generate false certainty.

Domain age, registrar and certificate issuance date are all public and take about a minute to check. A site claiming years of history on a months-old domain is the cheapest signal available.

the pattern repeats because it works, not because people are stupid

That is a report count, not a test count, and it changes how thin the evidence base actually is.

What dates are we talking about — order, payment, last contact?

replysharereportpermalink
u/rasmus_kuipers-37 points·9 months ago

Asked a new shop for a batch-specific certificate before ordering. The reply was a generic catalogue page. I did not order.

Cosigning the domain check. Character by character, every time, and paste it rather than typing it.

Agreed. The clone copies the front page and never the paperwork, because the paperwork is the expensive part.

Has anyone else in the thread got the same domain in their history?

What did the storefront say the lead time was?

report it here with dates, not adjectives

Did you ask for a batch-specific document before paying?

replysharereportpermalink
u/ines_ekstrom77 points·9 months ago

Agreed on the no-names rule. It protects the board and it protects people who turn out to be wrong.

replysharereportpermalink
u/lukas_delgado204 points·9 months ago

Nearly paid a cloned storefront. Caught it because one character in the domain was wrong and I paste rather than type.

u/gastric_emptying_g61 points·9 months ago

Same. A batch-specific document requested before payment costs nothing and filters an enormous amount.

Is this a shop, a group buy, or an individual reseller? They fail in different ways.

replysharereportpermalink
u/foam_head_fred15 points·9 months ago

Was in a group buy that went quiet for six weeks. It resolved in the end, but the structure meant I had no visibility and no recourse the whole time.

u/tobias_barros11 points·9 months ago

Is there any independent testing on file for this name anywhere?

replysharereportpermalink
u/anders_osei12 points·9 months ago

Lost money once, years ago, to a shop that pushed hard for a decision the same day. Every time I see that pressure now I close the tab.

Now I buy small from anyone new, test it, and only then commit. It has cost me a few small orders and saved me one large one.

Cloned storefronts copy assets, layout and testimonial text. What they cannot easily copy is a batch-specific document that ties to a lot you can then have tested independently.

This is the check that catches most of it, and it takes under a minute.

a domain registered last month with a decade of testimonials is the whole tell

screenshots are not evidence, dates and documents are

About c/scamalerts

Documented fraud: cloned storefronts, recycled COA PDFs, batch numbers appearing across unrelated vendors, fake test reports, group-buy exit scams, and the small number of patterns that account for almost all of it. Accusations without evidence are removed — not because we doubt you, but because unverifiable accusations make the community useless.
