mg ÷ mL, that is the whole formula, why did i find this hard

Discussion Cold Box ×1 Long Haul ×2

Something I noticed reading old threads that I have not seen said out loud.

The advice on units in this community changed substantially around the start of last year, and nobody went back and updated the older posts. So depending on which thread the search engine hands you, you get two contradictory answers with the same confidence.

I have listed what I think the current consensus is below. Correct me — that is the point of posting it.

swirl, do not shake, or you are courting oxidation

This is correct. 1mL versus 8mL is the common mistake.

Did you write the concentration on the vial?

Tracking number removed. It identifies both ends of a shipment.

Dead space ate 15 units on a low-volume draw. Tiny impact at 12.5mg, massive impact at 15mg.

Cosigning. The concentration on the vial in marker is load-bearing.

Disagree. What you are describing is consistent with mg/mL, not with what you concluded.

Disagree.

Adding to this: concentration is doing more work than the comment implies.

This is correct. 2mL versus 9mL is the common mistake.

stopper coring on the 6th draw because you keep using the same entry point. rotate.

Is that 15mg vial or 4mg?

Titration speed is a side-effect dial far more than an efficacy dial.

u-100 syringe, not u-40, or your math is off by factor of 19

Not convinced. The evidence does not support that reading.

Spent 23 weeks confused about concentration math until someone showed me the table. 5mg, 2mL, concentration is 5/2.

About c/reconstitution

The arithmetic and the technique. Bacteriostatic versus sterile water, reconstitution volume as a concentration choice, converting mg/mL into insulin-syringe units, dead space, swirl-not-shake, stopper coring, and how long a reconstituted vial is actually good for. Math errors get corrected fast and politely.

  1. Show your numbers. "How many units?" with no mg and no mL cannot be answered.
  2. Never post a calculation as advice without stating the concentration it assumes.
  3. No sterile-compounding-for-others discussion. Personal handling only.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
