cored the stopper on day 9. rotate your puncture site

Question

Confession thread, sort of.

I went from 0.5mg to 12.5mg much faster than I should have because the scale had stalled and I got impatient. The stall broke about 13 weeks later, at which point I had no way of knowing whether the dose increase did anything or whether it would have broken anyway.

So now I have sulphur burps I did not need and a data point I cannot interpret. Two lessons in one.

Posting it in the hope that somebody at week 11 reads it before doing the same thing.

Reconstituted at 3mL when I meant 21mL. Caught it because the units looked wrong. Write the concentration.

Cored the stopper on my 6th draw because I kept using the same entry point. Rotate the puncture site.

Dead space ate 24 units on a low-volume draw. Tiny impact at 2.5mg, massive impact at 2.4mg.

The evidence standard in c/vendorvetting gets called too strict about once a month, and every time, the thread ends with the complainant agreeing.

Titration speed is a side-effect dial far more than an efficacy dial.

I am going to push back on this slightly.

Two vials, two different concentrations, forgot which was which, almost made a 23 times error. Now I label everything.

Are you using a u-100 or u-40 syringe? That changes everything.

This is correct. 3mL versus 9mL is the common mistake.

Is that 15mg vial or 25mg?

This is correct. 2mL versus 10mL is the common mistake.

About c/reconstitution

The arithmetic and the technique. Bacteriostatic versus sterile water, reconstitution volume as a concentration choice, converting mg/mL into insulin-syringe units, dead space, swirl-not-shake, stopper coring, and how long a reconstituted vial is actually good for. Math errors get corrected fast and politely.
