[Milestone] 18 months, at goal for a year of that, and the weirdest part was after the number stopped moving

Milestone

Three years on this site total, 34kg down, and 18 months on the drug specifically with the last 12 of those at a stable weight. The losing part had a clear narrative. The maintaining part does not, and I think that's worth saying out loud for anyone approaching this stage.

the "losing has a narrative, maintaining doesn't" line is exactly right and I've never seen it put that plainly. the scale gave you a story every week. maintenance gives you the same number over and over, which is the goal, but it doesn't feel like a story.

yes, exactly, it's succeeding at something that by definition produces no new information week to week

this is basically why this whole community exists honestly, maintenance is under-discussed precisely because "still the same" doesn't generate posts the way "down another kilo" does

congrats on the year, genuinely. this kind of quiet milestone deserves the same recognition as the dramatic before/afters, maybe more.

bloodwork side of this: full panel every 12 weeks since I hit goal too, and the "no new information" feeling applies there as well, numbers that were dramatically improving now just sit at good numbers. also strangely undramatic in a good way.

Flairing Milestone, and glad this community makes room for the "nothing happened, that's the win" version of a progress post.

fwiw this comment section has more genuine warmth than most "big number" progress posts get, which says something good about this community

bookmarking this for whenever I get to my own goal, want to remember maintenance is its own thing and not just an epilogue

this comment section has genuinely restored some faith in this place, warm without being saccharine

congrats, my own numbers went from scary to boring over a similar timeline and boring turned out to be the goal the whole time

been here since it was 40 people and a wiki stub, milestones like this one are exactly why
