[Discussion] we are measuring milestone at the wrong time and calling it noise
we are measuring milestone at the wrong time and calling it noise, and I am aware this is a minority view on this board. Stalled for 20 weeks and measured my waist out of stubbornness. It had moved. The scale had not. Stopped reading the fastest posts here for a month and my mood improved considerably. Nobody noticed…
Agreed — text only was the best rule this board ever adopted. The posts are about what actually changed rather than about lighting.
Careful — that reads as advice about what someone else should do, and this board is for describing your own.
19kg over 17 months and honestly the most useful marker was that stairs stopped being a decision.
goal weights chosen at week one are usually guesses
non-scale victories count and they are the ones people remember

This is the one I would put in the sidebar. The middle is where everyone lives.
Same. Comparison ruined about three months for me until I stopped reading the fastest posts.

Agreed — measurements over photographs, every time, for anybody trying to actually track something.
Correcting my own post above — that was week 69, not the week I wrote. Same story, wrong number.
Text-only posting removes the comparison mechanism that makes image boards difficult, which is why this community adopted the rule and has kept it.
My goal weight at week one was a number I made up. I have revised it twice since and I am happier for it.

Slight disagreement: that is a month, not a plateau, and calling it one makes it heavier than it is.

Adding the thing I wish someone had said to me — the goal you picked at week one was a guess.
