the week 8 version of this is different from the week 4 wall and I don’t think enough people separate them

Discussion Long Haul ×6

Everyone's well drilled on "week 4 is normal, don't panic". Fewer people talk about the week 8-ish stall, which in my experience and a bunch of others I've compared notes with, actually behaves a little differently — often coincides with a real titration plateau (you've been on the same step a while and your body's adjusted) rather than pure measurement noise.

Not trying to scare week-4 people, just think week 8 deserves its own explanation instead of being lumped into "it's always noise, wait it out".

this is a good distinction actually. week 4 stalls are almost always noise. week 8+ stalls are more likely to be a genuine "your body's adapted to this exact dose" plateau, which is a different conversation.

right, and the "different conversation" part is the bit I wanted to flag, because the wait-it-out advice that's correct at week 4 isn't automatically correct at week 8

and even then "different conversation" means "talk to whoever manages your dose", not "here's what internet strangers think you should do about it"

good, that caveat needed saying explicitly and I'm glad it's in the thread

the rolling-average method still applies at week 8, it just takes a longer flat window before you call it, because by then some of the earlier noise sources (novelty weighing, initial water shifts) have settled and the signal is cleaner

Good nuance, and correctly avoids the "so should I go up" jump. Whether an 8-week plateau warrants a dose conversation is a question for whoever prescribes it, not this thread.

as the resident week-4 evangelist I'll admit the week-8 version has genuinely tripped me up before in a way week 4 never did. edit: to be precise it was week 9 for me, not 8, off by one in my memory.

this is exactly the distinction I didn't have when I panic-upped my own dose, mine was a week 8 stall and I treated it like a week 4 one

logging this distinction in my own tracker going forward, "week 4 noise vs week 8+ possible real plateau" as two separate flags instead of one generic "stalled" tag

pharmacologically this also lines up with steady-state timing after a dose step, roughly makes sense that a later stall reflects the drug level itself having settled rather than early noise

slightly jealous someone's carved out the week-8 niche, may need to expand my whole personality to cover it too

this thread and the noise-vs-plateau one should genuinely be linked together somewhere, they answer two halves of the same question

reading every comment on both threads before I let myself worry about my own week 7 flatline, seems to be working so far

The part nobody posts about: what happens at goal weight. Finding a lowest effective dose, dose-interval stretching, regain risk data, muscle retention, the psychology of not having a number to chase, and staying on indefinitely versus tapering.
