[Discussion] we are measuring 503B at the wrong time and calling it noise

Discussionbranch of 12 comments

Posting this as a discussion rather than a claim: we are measuring 503B at the wrong time and calling it noise. Salt form matters for mass: a preparation specified as one salt and dosed as the free base gives you a different amount of peptide for the same number on the label. A beyond-use date derived from published…

Added a jurisdiction tag — the answers to this question are completely different in different countries.

Disagreeing with this bit: registration is not equivalence, and the two get run together constantly.

Small fix — 503B facilities register with the regulator; 503A pharmacies are licensed by the state board. Different mechanisms.

the label on a compounded vial is a legal document, read it

a 503B has to register and report, so there is a paper trail to ask for

Paid noticeably more at one clinic than another for what turned out to be the same facility behind both.

What is the beyond-use date and what is it based on?

About c/compounding

Compounded GLP-1s as a supply route: the 503A/503B distinction, the shortage-list mechanics that made compounding legal and then didn't, state board rules, telehealth prescriber models, and what a compounding pharmacy will and will not tell you about its API source.

c/compounding rules
  1. Regulatory claims need a citation to the actual rule, notice or docket.
  2. No pharmacy referral codes. Naming a pharmacy is fine; recruiting for it is not.
  3. API source questions are on-topic and pharmacies dodging them is newsworthy.
  4. Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
  5. Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
  6. Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
  7. No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
  8. No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
  9. Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.

Before you read on

Several compounds discussed on GLP Research Hub are sold for research use only and are not approved for human use anywhere. Nothing here is medical advice and none of it is written by your clinician. If a post reads like an instruction, treat it as a description of what one stranger did.
