[Baseline] get these before you start, you cannot go back for them later

Baseline Receipts ×6

Been lurking in c/reconstitution for about 12 months and finally have something worth posting.

Short version: week 26, 1.7mg, and baseline labs is the bit I still cannot get a straight answer on. I have read the wiki, I have read the last 3 threads, and the answers split roughly down the middle.

What I actually want to know is whether the people saying it does not matter have measured it, or whether it is just repeated confidently. Happy to be told I am overthinking this — I probably am — but I would rather overthink it now than at week 32.

Ferritin tanked from 11 to 25. Small appetite, reduced iron intake, nobody was testing it until I asked.

baseline is the most important bloodwork measurement, you cannot collect it later

ALT is where the fatty-liver story shows up first

Respectfully this is a sample of one presented as a finding.

HOMA-IR is crude but free and useful for tracking

Baseline eGFR: 99.3. Week 27: 99.1. Same lab, fasted, same time of day. Trend matters.

Yeah, baseline matters more than any later number.

Same lab both times?

This is correct. ApoB is the better marker.

The confident tone is doing a lot of work that the evidence is not.

About c/bloodwork

What to measure before you start, what to re-measure, and how to interpret movement without panicking. ApoB over LDL-C, HOMA-IR as a crude free tool, ALT and the fatty-liver story, eGFR noise during rapid loss, and the deficiencies that a 1,100-calorie appetite will hand you.
